Surgery Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

The night before your pet’s surgery, pick up any food that remains in food dishes.  It is okay for them to have water overnight, but no breakfast on surgery day as anesthetic can upset their stomach.

The day of the surgery we ask that you drop the patient off between 7:00 am and 7:30 am.  When you come into the clinic a staff member will go over the estimate with you in detail, at which point you may decline or add additional procedures.  They will then have you fill out and sign an authorization form allowing the veterinarian to perform those tasks listed on the estimate that you have authorized.  We ask that you leave the best contact number available in case of emergency.

Pick-up times vary depending on the procedure, and when the patient’s surgery has been completed.  A staff member will call once all surgeries have been completed (early afternoon) and inform you of the earliest time the patient can go home.  Owners have from the time given until closing ( 7:00 pm) to pick-up their pet.

Some  surgeries may require the patient to stay overnight to allow the veterinarian to check the following morning for any signs of complication.

If at any point during the surgery day you wish to check on the progress of your pet’s surgery or recovery, we encourage you to call. A staff member will be happy to let you know how your pet is doing.

When you come to pick-up your pet, a Veterinary Technician will go over a post-surgery care sheet for you to take home, outlining the specific care your pet requires during recovery.
